S.K.A.M. Artists’ Sujit Kundu To Host A Virtual Birthday Bash
Grooves from DJs like Lil Jon, Pete Wentz and Samantha Ronson will fuel a non-stop party streaming on Twitch to celebrate Sujit Kundu’s birthday.
While house music has taken on a very literal meaning during safer-at-home orders in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sujit Kundu, founder and CEO of the leading talent booking agency S.K.A.M. Artists, will bring us some virtual vibes. His 25th consecutive 21st birthday extravaganza will be hosted on Twitch and include performances by 24 worldwide DJs starting Sunday night—the party doesn’t stop for 24 hours.
While Kundu’s previous parties at venues like Avra and Highlight Room in Los Angeles have been limited to exclusive guest lists, this year’s event is open to anyone tuning in. Live performances by celebrity DJs from around the globe will include Lil Jon, Pete Wentz, Samantha Ronson, Irie, Chase B, Baby Yu, Crooked, DJ Five, Eric DLux, Ever, Gusto, Jerzy, Justin Credible, Lezlee, Quiz, Richard Vision, Ross One, Sour Milk, Trauma, Triple XL,Bliss (Dubai), Fricktion (London), Lead (Tokyo) and Horizon (Melbourne).
“I really struggled with following the guidelines and the safety of all my friends and family. Even though there were a few ways we could have executed an event in-person—legally, and most important safely—I felt like the possible consequences out weighed the short term benefit,” Kundu says.
Before the economy shut down in March, the live music industry was forecasted by Music Biz to be worth $31 billion worldwide by 2022. But since music festivals, venues and bars were ordered to close from coast-to-coast, the industry has been turned upside down. However, DJs and artists have found creative ways to entertain fans who are stuck at home. From global personalities like Diplo, who’s gone live on Instagram from his Los Angeles living room, to more up-and-coming DJs like FIIN who performed on Facebook from the Florida Everglades, entertainers are crafting endless innovative content for fans.
“I’ve learned throughout my life that we constantly need to adapt and evolve; as they say in entertainment: the show must go on! So despite a lot of anxiety, and with the support of my incredible DJ roster, I’ve moved the party to a virtual setting, and since it’s 24 hours, it gives my friends, family and supporters a 24-hour window to celebrate with me,” Kundu says.
To join the party, head to TWITCH.TV/SKAM this Sunday, Aug. 23, at 8:59 p.m. PST for your fix of non-stop entertainment.
